The Northwest Territory, Tacoma Washington, that’s where the boys will be racing tomorrow. Weather forecast calls for sunny skies and 55 degrees at 7:00 a.m. When the race starts. The Tacoma City Marathon course is a scenic one which is mos…tly downhill. It starts at Associated Aviation at the Tacoma Narrows Airport and crosses over Puget Sound on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. That’s right, you know the one, you’ve seen it swaying in the wind on a 1940’s video clip. Fortunately for all the marathoners this is a new bridge which will give everybody comfort while they absorb the beautiful views of Puget Sound and the distant Mt. Rainer. Once off the bridge there is a short ascent and then on to some easy rolling terrain through North Tacoma’s Proctor District and downhill through Point Defiance Park. Now there’s only about 8 miles left and it is all along the Commencement Bay Waterfront and is a flat and fast part of the course. Near the end of the course it enters a boat dock inlet that goes back over a mile and a half then makes two quick right turns and ends at 15th Street and Pacific Avenue in Downtown Tacoma. There’s no doubt that this will be a memorable race for the 50 Ability Marathons Team.
